PENRYN, Placer County — October 28, 2026. Penryn roads are included in a 2026–27 Placer County road-maintenance funding plan approved by the Board of Supervisors in June. The county expects approximately $13.24 million in Senate Bill 1 transportation revenue and specifically identifies surface treatment work in Penryn, Granite Bay and Foresthill.

How much work is planned?

Placer County’s June 10 announcement describes about 15 miles of surface treatments across Granite Bay, Penryn and Foresthill, plus two miles of asphalt overlay work on county roads in the Tahoe Basin, a culvert replacement at English Colony Way and a bridge project at Garden Bar Road. The full 2026–27 list includes three new projects and nine ongoing projects.

It would be inaccurate to describe the entire $13,241,824 as a Penryn grant. That figure covers the county’s projected SB 1 revenue for numerous projects, not one town, and the 15-mile estimate also covers more than one community.

What is a surface treatment?

Surface treatment is preventive road maintenance intended to slow pavement deterioration and extend the life of an existing roadway. It is not always equivalent to full-depth reconstruction. Whether an individual Penryn street receives a specific treatment depends on the county’s adopted project list, contractor schedule and field conditions.

Are road closures scheduled?

The funding announcement establishes approval of a project list. It does not establish which Penryn street is closed today or give a firm construction date for every segment. Residents should consult the Placer County Public Works project and road-information pages for any later traffic advisories.

Where does the money come from?

SB 1 is California’s Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. Local agencies adopting eligible annual project lists may receive state funds for road maintenance and related infrastructure. Placer County says anticipated revenue was included in its proposed fiscal-year budget and would not draw on the county General Fund for the listed allocation.
